Wireless
Device networking has become a much more important area to monitor and control as you move to the cloud. No network no productivity. We are often asked to review networks internally for security, externally for access, and performance. Devices have increasingly moved onto wireless from wired with extender/repeater sites.
Wireless covers several ranges of the frequency spectrum including Bluetooth, NFC, RFID, 802 standards, of which normal WIFI is covered under 802.11, and full Mobile wireless.
Many users do not update their device firmware and settings with regular audits. These devices are often at the border to the internet connection without secure Virtual LAN separation (VLANS) and are used to replace key internal networking functionality such as DHCP (controlling internal IP address) and DNS (resolving network names) that servers used to provide before they moved to the cloud.
We work with many types of WIFI devices including Netgear in the SOHO, Drayek in the smaller SME, Sonicwall in bigger SME's, and in some special cases with Peplink for high security communications that use multiple circuits to send secure data.
